Menstrual Hygiene Program

Hygiene products are essential for personal cleanliness, dignity, and overall health!

Living in a third-world country where basic necessities like food and clean water are scarce, it becomes incredibly challenging to prioritize hygiene products. In such circumstances, individuals and families often struggle to have enough food on the table, leaving little or no resources for other essential items, including hygiene products. As a result, women and young girls are often neglected in terms of accessing and affording these crucial products.

Hygiene products, such as sanitary pads, tampons, and soap, are not only essential for maintaining personal cleanliness but also for preserving dignity and overall health. However, due to financial constraints and limited availability, women and young girls in disadvantaged communities face obstacles in accessing these products regularly.

The lack of adequate hygiene products poses various risks and consequences. Without proper menstrual hygiene products, women and girls may resort to using unsanitary alternatives like rags, leaves, or even unsafe materials. This can lead to infections, discomfort, and potentially serious health issues. Furthermore, the lack of access to hygiene products may prevent women and girls from fully participating in daily activities, including attending school or work, thereby hindering their educational and economic opportunities.

In this context, it is crucial to address the larger needs of individuals and communities living in poverty. The immediate focus often revolves around securing enough food, clean water, and shelter. Understandably, hygiene products may not be prioritized when basic survival is at stake. However, it is essential to recognize the long-term impact that neglecting hygiene needs can have on the well-being and empowerment of women and young girls.

To address this issue, our foundation is looking for solutions that tackle the interconnected challenges of poverty, access to education, and hygiene. We are creating Initiatives that provide not only food and water but also hygiene products that can make a significant difference in the lives of these individuals.

This includes distributing sanitary pads, educating women and girls on menstrual hygiene management, and promoting sustainable solutions such as reusable sanitary products.

Recently our founder, Omar met and visited with the sanitary pads manufacturing company and is working on a potential collaboration that will give the foundation the ability to make reusable sanitary products and distribute them more regularly in our partner schools but also local communities.

Furthermore, raising awareness about the importance of hygiene products and destigmatizing menstrual health is crucial. By fostering open conversations and challenging cultural taboos surrounding menstruation, we can promote understanding, empathy, and support for women and girls who face these challenges.

Donations to organizations and initiatives that specifically address hygiene needs in third-world countries are instrumental in making a positive impact. By supporting these efforts, individuals can help ensure that women and young girls have access to essential hygiene products, enabling them to maintain their health, dignity, and overall well-being and just focus on their education.

Together, we can work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable world, where basic necessities and hygiene are accessible to all, regardless of their economic circumstances.

One of our partner schools Seynabou Niasse’s student base is 98% girls. We are committed to supplying no-cost menstrual health products to students who most often do not have access to or afford these products. With donations, we can buy in bulk and distribute them regularly.

You can help by donating products to one of our many drop box locations that we will be sharing soon or start your own drive to collect tampons and pads.
